Hi, I’m Dana
I’m an Ottawa, ON based photographer and have had a passion for capturing images all my life. In high school, I made the decision to pursue my passion professionally and in 2013 I graduated from the Algonquin College Photography program. I specialize in portraiture, nature/landscapes, still-life and fine art but I am always expanding my horizon. I aim to tell my story and the stories of others with my photography. I live with my partner and together we are parents to an oddball hound dog named Ori and an over loving cat named Kezia.
Music is a big part of my life as well. Whenever I have free time, I play guitar, sing and sometimes my sister joins in on drums!
I always enjoy relaxing with a book. My all-time favourites include: Lord of the Rings (all of them), The Bell Jar, On the Road and Breakfast of Champions. In my teens, I devoured all of Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles and they will always be near and dear.
Road tripping is another hobby of mine. My most recent trek was a 13-day USA tour, for which I drove my itty bitty Chevy Spark to its limits. I left from Ottawa to Florida, from there to Nashville, TN then to Memphis, TN, then up to Oklahoma City and back.
My preoccupation with music, books and travel have a strong influence on my work and it’s where I draw a lot of inspiration from. No matter where I am or what I’m doing, I try to use photography as a way to document and turn everyday life into art. I love capturing a moment in time and using it to create a tangible and beautiful memory. I enjoy listening and learning the interests of others and I am so overjoyed when I can help their dreams and visions come to life with my work.
